Gourmet food, wine mark Spring Fling
The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey will host its fifth annual Spring Fling to celebrate the release of new wines.

CANON CITY - The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey will celebrate its newest releases of reserve wines with Spring Fling events this month. The new wines will be paired with gourmet food prepared by area chefs at the events, which will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday and March 18 and 25 at the winery tasting room, 3011 E. U.S. 50.

Thursday's event will feature the release of the 2008 Colorado cabernet sauvignon reserve wine paired with edible creations prepared by Adam Merlino of Merlino's Belvedere.

The March 18 event will feature the release of the 2008 Colorado merlot reserve featuring hors d'oeuvres prepared by Chef Sharon Costa of Beyond Madness Catering.

Spring Fling will wrap up March 25 with the release of the 2009 sauvignon blanc reserve wine paired with Japanese cuisine created by Chef Han Son of Mo-Mo Japanese restaurant.

Cost is $5 per person and includes a commemorative logo glass. Advance purchase is recommended, since tickets are limited. Call 276-5191.
